A couple have been arrested on suspicion of murder after an eight-week-old baby was found with ‘a number of broken bones’.

The little girl was found unresponsive at a house in South London on April 26 earlier this year.

At first, the man, 24, and woman, 21, had been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm on May 3.

A post-mortem examination conducted at the time had been inclusive, a Met Police spokesperson said.

However after further testing, the couple were arrested on suspicion of murder.

The man and woman have now both been released on bail to a date in mid-October.

Detective Chief Inspector John Massey will lead officers from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command in their investigation.
